GODALMING CHORAL SOCIETY

The home of choral singing in Godalming

We are a medium sized local choir who sing to a high standard. We employ a professional orchestra (Orchestra Eroica) to accompany most concerts and engage professional soloists where applicable. Our rehearsals are hard work but fun, and there are plenty of opportunities for socialising as well as singing ...

We are always happy to welcome new members, so if you'd like to join, or give us a try-out, please get in touch.

Soloists for the Elijah performance

At the helm of this performance is our esteemed conductor George de Voil, leading the Chameleon Arts Orchestra and a magnificent lineup of soloists.

Baritone George Robarts will bring the role of Elijah to life with his commanding presence and expressive depth. A rising star on both the concert and opera stage, George has performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, St Martin-in-the-Fields, and the Oxford International Song Festival, and recently debuted at Opera Holland Park and the Grange Festival.

Joining him is Charlotte Bowden, an award-winning soprano and graduate of the Royal College of Music Opera Studio, whose performances at Glyndebourne, Wigmore Hall, and the Aldeburgh Festival have captivated audiences with her shimmering tone and emotional depth.

Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Hannah Bennett, known for her work with Garsington Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, and the BBC Proms, will lend her rich, velvety voice to the alto solos.

Meanwhile, tenor Richard Robbins, a frequent performer with The Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields and the London Mozart Players, will bring his lyrical expressiveness to some of Elijah’s most poignant moments.

Completing the cast is treble Rufus Travers-Brown, whose pure, angelic voice will add an ethereal touch to this remarkable performance.
